Snowmass Ski Resort - Snowmass Village, CO

Snowmass Mountain is the largest of Aspen’s four mountains and is home to enough diverse terrain to suit everyone. It has been rated one of the best family ski resorts in North America.

Any lift ticket to Snowmass is also good at the other three Aspen/Snowmass ski areas. This resort is located about 15 15-minute drive from Aspen, Colorado, in its own town of Snowmass Village. There are free shuttles to take you back and forth.

Terrain

Snowmass Mountain Ski Resort Groomer — Long, winding groomer.

Snowmass has the longest lift-accessed vertical in the country at 4,406 feet. Make your way up the Sheer Bliss or Big Burn lift to access the Cirque lift. This will take you to the summit of Snowmass at 12,510 feet. From here, enjoy 4,406 feet of leg-burning vertical to the base.

There are trails to suit all ages and abilities at Snowmass Mountain. You’ll find easy groomers, expert steeps, chutes, glades, cliffs, bumps, and terrain parks. Combine the 3,132 skiable acres and long vertical, with Snowmass’ high-speed chairlifts, and you’re sure to have an easy time skiing and riding. There’s a total of 91 trails, 3 terrain parks, 1 superpipe, and 1 beginner halfpipe.

Village

The village of Snowmass is located directly at the base of the mountain. It’s a former ranching community that has been transformed into a year-round destination. Snowmass claims that 95% of its lodging has ski/ski-out access to the mountain. The village itself has plenty of restaurants, bars, and shopping all within walking distance.

There are a total of nine on-mountain restaurants: Sneaky’s Tavern, Sam’s Smokehouse, Up 4 Pizza, Two Creeks Cafe, Lynn Britt Cabin (lunches and snowcat dinner rides), Burlingame Cabin (snowcat dinner rides, Ullrhof, Gwyn’s High Alpine, and Cafe Suzanne. For rentals and retail ski shopping, there are 4 stores in Snowmass Village.

The real draw is nearby Aspen, a short 12-mile drive or free shuttle ride away. Downtown Aspen would be the place to go for nightlife, upscale dining, and shopping.
