Celebrate the Grand Opening of Observer Ranch in Penrose on April 26

Observer Ranch invites everyone to come out and experience its one-of-a-kind space-themed Learning Center and Campground. Tucked away less than an hour south of Colorado Springs in Penrose, Observer Ranch is a wonderful place to visit for fun and education with friends and family.

They will host their free Grand Opening celebration on April 26th, 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm. Head to 4509 County Road 123, Penrose, CO 81240. This is southwest of Colorado Springs on Highway 115 and east of Cañon City. Both campers and non-campers are welcome to attend the complimentary event. Note that camping is still paid and requires a reservation. The first 100 people get a gift!

“Our mission is simple: Campground for Today, Education for Tomorrow. We created Observer Ranch to connect nature, community, and a love of learning. It’s more than just a campground—it’s a place to explore, get your hands dirty, learn, play, and cultivate passionate ideas. A place where families and people from all walks of life feel truly welcome.

We wanted to offer more than a traditional RV park. Is it a great place to camp? Absolutely. But why stop there when we can offer so much more? We host everything from free mom’s groups to hands-on classes in survival skills and quail farming. With our beautiful event space, we aim to be a go-to destination for events, birthday parties, wilderness camps, corporate retreats, family reunions—you name it!

Where else can you take a survival class, build and launch your own Estes rocket, embark on a historical Jeep tour, curl up with a book in a cozy library, and roast s’mores under the stars—before retiring to a space-themed camper, cabin or tent? Our goal is to make these experiences truly accessible and affordable. Whether you visit for an hour (day/monthly passes available) or stay for a week, everyone who walks through our doors is family!

A lot is happening during the Grand Opening of Observer Ranch. Bring your friends and family and spend the day hanging out in the Learning Center.

At the campground, you can see the 3D-Printed House by Azure Printed Homes. Check out a prototype of the Skyview by Never Summer, a small camper perfect for hauling to the ski slopes and back. Discover the eight Planet Camper Rentals and see the Moon Pod.

The campground features RV sites with full hookups and level concrete pads, tent sites, rentable planet-themed campers, and cabin rentals. In addition to the campground surrounded by mountain views, there’s a giant Learning Center dedicated to building and enhancing the community.
